1. Scope and acceptance

These terms are between you and the developer and operator of Star Scan. Read these terms and the Privacy Policy before downloading, installing or using the app. Where confirmation is required, acceptance is based on the confirmation you actually make. If you disagree, stop using the relevant service.

You must have the legal capacity required to use the service. A parent or guardian should review these terms and guide minors. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits mandatory consumer rights under applicable law.

2. Service and license

Star Scan offers document scanning, image processing, offline text recognition, organization, reading, export, PDF tools and optional sync, as available on your platform and version. Website descriptions do not promise identical features across platforms or that every described download channel is already open.

Subject to these terms and applicable law, you may use the software on devices where you lawfully obtain it. Intellectual property in the software, brand and website materials remains with its respective owners. This license does not transfer those rights. Open-source components remain subject to their own licenses.

Software licensing on Apple platforms

For apps obtained through the App Store, the Apple Standard End User License Agreement applies unless a separate custom EULA is specified in the store. These terms supplement website use, document handling and support rules; they do not replace the Apple Standard EULA or limit rights under applicable law.

The operator identified on this page provides Star Scan product support. Apple is not a party to these website terms.

3. Your content and rights

Documents and content you scan, import, edit or export remain owned by you or their original rights holders. We and the services you choose may process the content only as necessary to perform your requested processing, sync, sharing or support. This permission does not transfer ownership of your documents.

You must be authorized to process the materials you use and protect other people’s privacy, personal information and intellectual property. Saving a signature image or adding it to a PDF does not automatically create a certified electronic signature or guarantee legal validity in any particular setting.

4. Acceptable use

Use the service in accordance with applicable law and third-party service rules.

• Do not create or distribute unlawful content or infringe others’ privacy, intellectual property or other rights.
• Do not access devices, storage or documents without authorization, impersonate others, or forge IDs or signatures for fraud.
• Do not maliciously disrupt networks, sync or service security, distribute malware or bypass access controls.
• Do not copy, sell or redistribute the software or brand materials beyond what the law permits. Uses allowed by law or open-source licenses remain permitted.

5. Outputs and feature limitations

Scan enhancement, OCR, layouts, search and conversion depend on image quality, language, document structure and device capability. Results may contain recognition errors, missing pages or layout differences. Manually check important files, particularly contracts, amounts, ID numbers and materials submitted to others. The app does not replace professional legal, medical or financial judgment.

Some PDF merging, splitting, compression and signature tools produce new files from current page images. Searchable text layers, links and forms in the original PDF may not be retained. Keep originals and review exported results.

Photo pixels alone cannot determine an ID’s actual physical dimensions. Even with a size template or entered dimensions, you must check paper and printer scaling settings. A preview does not guarantee actual-size printing.

6. Sync, credentials and backups

You choose whether to connect nearby devices and must check recipients and permissions. Enabled automatic sync may propagate changes and deletions. Network problems, insufficient storage, version differences or conflicts may delay or prevent sync.

Protect your devices and credentials, revoke obsolete authorization and keep independent backups of important files. Sync should not be your only backup. Clearing app data, uninstalling or permanently deleting files may make local documents unrecoverable. Disconnecting does not automatically remove remote copies.

Storage, stores, printing and sharing services are operated by their respective providers and subject to their rules and privacy policies. We will address issues attributable to Star Scan but cannot control third-party availability, quotas, pricing or retention.

7. Downloads and pricing

The first App Store release is free to download, with no in-app purchases, subscriptions or automatic renewal. Obtain the app through channels listed on our website or official app stores; download availability depends on the actual release status.

Any future paid features will disclose their price, benefits, duration, renewal, cancellation and refund terms before purchase and require your choice. Current free use creates no payment or subscription obligation. Store purchases follow store procedures and applicable law.

8. Updates, suspension and ending use

We may update the app and website to improve the experience, fix issues or meet system requirements. Where reasonably practicable, we will explain changes that significantly affect existing services in advance and handle purchased rights as required by law.

You may stop using the service, disconnect sync or uninstall at any time. Export files you need before doing so. For unlawful use or conduct threatening security, we may restrict relevant online services as necessary and proportionate. Ending use does not give us ownership of your local documents.

9. Responsibilities and risks

We take reasonable measures to maintain quality and security but cannot guarantee error-free, uninterrupted operation on all devices and networks or accuracy of every output. Responsibility for force majeure, third-party failures or user errors is determined by applicable law and each party’s actual responsibility.

You should reasonably review outputs and protect backups. These notices do not exclude our liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, infringement of personal information rights or other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. They do not limit statutory rights to repair, replacement, refunds or compensation.

10. Applicable law and disputes

These terms are interpreted and performed under applicable law. Mandatory consumer and personal information protections applicable in your location remain unaffected. If a dispute arises, first contact us using the details on this page. If it cannot be resolved, either party may seek relief from a court with lawful jurisdiction or another applicable dispute resolution body.

Chinese and English versions are provided for convenience and aim to convey the same meaning. Any differences should be interpreted in context and under applicable law, without reducing your statutory rights because of a language difference.

11. Updates to these terms

Updated terms and dates will appear here. Material changes will be communicated on the website or through applicable in-app notices. We will obtain renewed confirmation where required by law. An invalid provision does not affect other provisions that remain legally valid.
